UROLOGY FOR WOMEN

The goal of the AUA Foundation is to support and promote research, patient/public education and advocacy to improve the prevention, detection, treatment and cure of urologic diseases for men, women, and children. While urology seems to be most often focused on male health, an overwhelming number of women are also impacted by urologic diseases. Millions of women suffer in silence with debilitating urologic diseases and conditions, both malignant and benign, including kidney cancer, bladder cancer, chronic pain, interstitial cystitis, and various forms of incontinence. All of these conditions are identified as key priorities in our National Urology Research Agenda (NURA). The NURA provides the first comprehensive roadmap for urology research by identifying key areas that need to be addressed in order to advance progress for women, men, and children.

The AUA Foundation has undertaken the Urology for Women Initiative to bring a national focus to the unique needs of women who need to seek the attention of healthcare professionals, especially urologists. The AUA Foundation and its partners strive to provide the most up-to-date information on the urologic conditions listed below, by consistently developing new information and resources for patients, healthcare professionals, and the public, as clinical, research and other critical updates become available. Check out the links below to learn more about urologic conditions facing women today!
