Research Scholar Program
Introduction
The Research Scholars Program provides support to young men and women who are interested in pursuing a career in urologic research. The American Urological Association (AUA) started funding research in 1975 and the Research Scholars Program was administered by the American Foundation for Urologic Disease, Inc. from 1987 until 2005. Following reorganization in 2005, the Urology Care Foundation (Urology Care Foundation) was created. In all, more than 525 researchers have been granted research scholarships and awards through a variety of programs and fellowships. Many remain in academic urology today, continuing to build upon the base of experience and knowledge gained during their research fellowships.
The Urology Care Foundation Research Scholars Program provides a valuable opportunity for young scientists to begin a career in urologic research at a time when many urology departments across the country are faced with budget challenges that limit research capabilities. One-year and two-year fellowships for MDs and PhDs are available for the 2013 Research Scholars Program.
