Urology Care Foundation Urology Research Success Award
The Applicant must be a member of the AUA or AUA-affiliated specialty society in good standing as of October 1, 2011. The name of the organization and member number should be included in the application package in the letter from the Applicant.
Applicants are not required to be U.S. citizens but must have a valid Social Security number for Internal Revenue Service purposes. All research must be conducted within the boundaries of the eight sections of the AUA.
The Applicant must not have received an Urology Care Foundation Bridge Award or Urology Research Success Award in the past.
The Applicant must be listed as the primary investigator or co-investigator on the project grant.
The Applicant must have competed for peer-reviewed external funding for the project during the period of March 1, 2010 to February 28, 2011. The application must have been either: 1) approved for funding, or 2) reviewed, scored, but not funded. In the case where the application was not funded, the awardee is required to re-apply for external funding no later than December 31, 2012.
The project must not have any current external funding.
Distribution of Funds
The Urology Care Foundation Urology Research Success Awards funds will be paid directly to the awardee's sponsoring institution. The Urology Care Foundation does not withhold taxes from awards (i.e., federal withholding, Social Security, local or state taxes, etc.). Awards can be used at the discretion of the awardee, but must be related to direct costs of the project and detailed in the budget justification worksheet and in response to the grant review summary statement.
Project Termination and Change of Institution
Any personnel or location changes that occur after the award announcement or during the course of the fellowship must be reported to and approved by the Urology Care Foundation. Unexpended funds in terminated projects will revert to the Urology Care Foundation. Scholarship support will terminate on the date the Mentor or Scholar ceases to work at the research institution, unless advanced permission for transfer has been authorized by the Urology Care Foundation.

The Urology Care Foundation requires Applicants to register online at the Urology Care Foundation website to:
- Complete the applicant information
- Complete the project information
- Download and complete an Application Agreement Form. The form must be signed by the applicant, department chair and sponsoring institution representative. Contact information for the grant administrator at the institution must also be provided.
Certification of Human Subjects
If activities involving human subjects are planned during the proposed research, applicants must provide a current letter of approval from the Institutional Review Board (IRB) in the application package.
Certification of Vertebrate Animals
If activities involving vertebrate animals are planned during the proposed research, applicants must provide a current letter of approval from the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) in the application package.
