Happy New Year! 2017 was another exciting year for the Urology Care Foundation! Reaching people through Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram was a great way to help share stories of urology, health and education. Based on impressions (how many people saw each Tweet), here are our 5 most popular Tweets from 2017:

No. 5

In November, the Foundation highlighted a different bladder health theme and related resources each week ranging from Interstitial Cystitis and Neurogenic Bladder to Bedwetting and Nocturia. As part of the social media chatter during this awareness month, our "Urology 101" video was featured as an overview to describe urology in general and its relationship with bladder health.

Every April is Testicular Cancer Awareness Month. It's a time of year to raise extra awareness and promote facts about this common cancer in young men. Many Foundation Tweets in April focus on getting the word out about early detection. Early detection is a key factor to surviving testicular cancer.

In February, the Know Your Stats about Prostate Cancer team visited Houston — site of Super Bowl LI — to raise prostate cancer awareness with fans around the world. Spokesman Mike Haynes and Dr. Edward Schaeffer met with media outlets covering the big game to spread facts on this disease.

Peyronie’s Disease was the topic of our second most popular tweet. Peyronie’s Disease is when scar tissue forms under the skin of the penis. This scar tissue can cause the penis to bend or become indented during erections. It's estimated there are more than 200,000 cases in the U.S. each year.

Our most popular Tweet from 2017 offered advice to avoid kidney stones! The Foundation has a host of materials on stones including a video, podcast, fact sheet and informative article. One simple way to increase your chances of avoiding stones is to make sure you stay hydrated.
