When thinking about family health history, you may only think you need to know about some health problems of other family members. So if your grandma had breast cancer, you’d want to talk to your doctor about breast cancer (for females). And if your dad had prostate cancer, you’d want to talk to your doctor about prostate cancer (for males). As it turns out, there is a link between prostate cancer and other cancers such as breast and ovarian. What is that link? Great question! Our fall issue of UrologyHealth extra® will give you some answers.
This fall issue covers topics around the link between prostate and breast cancer. The focus of our feature article with Dr. Todd Morgan is how knowing your family history of cancer can help with treatment. Some of the other topics we explore are genetic testing for prostate cancer, life after prostate cancer, active surveillance and starting a family with a history of cancer.
