Ever hear the phrase, “If it’s on the internet, it must be true”? Well, while the internet is a great place to find information, you have to be careful about where that information comes from. Is it a trusted organization or foundation that is built upon research and facts? Is it a doctor on Instagram giving tips about conditions and diseases? Or is it a random person on TikTok telling you about the latest trend you have to try that will cure this, that, etc.?
You may feel stressed about how much information is out there, but you have come to the right place! Urology Mythbusters debunked! Now, ask yourself these question:
- Do you get nervous about using public toilets because you are afraid you’ll “catch” something?
- Have you ever had dark yellow urine and thought you needed to drink more water?
- Do you think infertility is more common in women than in men?
- Do you have erectile dysfunction or know someone who does and wonder if that’s common?
- Have you been told getting up a lot at night to pass urine is a sign of a large prostate?
- Are you looking to enhance your sexual health as a male and think testosterone therapy is the only solution?
If you said yes to any of these questions, or are just curious about the answers, you’ll want to listen to this podcast with Dr. Arthur Burnett and Dr. Lori Lerner. As urologists, they talk about what’s true, what’s a myth and what may be a little of both.
When it comes to your health, you shouldn’t be guessing about the facts. There is a lot of great information you can find on the internet and yes, even social media. But, you have to be careful and make sure the site or person posting the information is credible.
So if it’s on the internet it may be true, but do your homework and make sure it’s a reliable source first.
