What does war, urology and fertility have in common?? We sat down with the manager of Museum and Archives for the William P. Didusch Center for Urologic History, Tupper Stevens, who talks about genitourinary trauma and the effect of war on urology and fertility.
Here’s one thing Tupper had to say about this topic:
“I will say the American Urological Association and its membership has done a great deal of work in this area, in urotrauama. I know that in 2014 the curator of this [AUA History] exhibit was very involved with a large coalition to pass a healthcare bill to improve the care and transition of members of the armed forces with urotrauma. I think this is something we need to continue to address…I have learned through this exhibit that we learned a lot from war as medicine has had to address the issues that improvements in armaments and in missions, as those improvements have continued, medicine has also had to improve to address the situations that arise.” – Tupper Stevens
