Erectile Dysfunction as a ‘Canary in the Coalmine’

The video web series "Urologist Nerds Drinking Beer" from Path2Parenthood is no stranger to the CareBlog. Last time we featured the Nerds they had crucial advice for those looking to up their game in the weight room with anabolic steroids.

The Nerds call Erectile Dysfunction (ED) a "canary in the coal mine" when it comes to men's health. Since ED is a blood flow issue, it might be an early sign you're at risk for a heart attack.  The Nerds suggest men stop smoking, lose weight and exercise to get the most out of ED medication.

The panel of Nerds includes three urologists who volunteer with the Urology Care Foundation:

  • Dr. Ajay Nangia of the University of Kansas Medical Center, a member of our Public Education Council

and two members of our Reproductive and Sexual Health Committee:

  • Dr. Stanton Honig of Yale and

  • Dr. Paul Shin of Shady Grove Fertility and Reproductive Science Center

Once again, rock star Mark McGrath of the band Sugar Ray introduces the nerds in this latest episode called Erectile Denial.
