The Foundation's Recommendation on Penile Augmentation

There are many ads about how to increase penis size. There are penis pills, creams, stretchers, or stretching devices and surgery. Almost none of them work.

If medically necessary, there are a few things doctors may suggest. But, be aware of side-effects. For example, erectile dysfunction (ED) is a problem that can occur after surgery.

The only legitimate reason for surgery is a condition called "micropenis." Micropenis is defined as a stretched penile length of less than 7.5 centimeters.

If you want to consider penile augmentation, please talk with your urologist/andrologist.

The American Urological Association (AUA) notes:

  • The injection of fat cells into the penis is not shown to be safe or effective. Some people offer this to increase width.
  • Surgery to cut the suspensory ligament of the penis in adults is not shown to be safe or effective. Some people offer this to increase length.
