National Doctors' Day is March 30th of every year. It is a day to honor doctors, surgeons, physicians and all they do for patients and caregivers.
You may have heard the phrase “Not all heroes wear capes” and that is true of the work doctors and their teams do daily. Whether you go to the doctor a few times a year for routine checkups, or you are going for a condition or disease, doctors are there to help you learn about your health, answer your questions and help provide options for care as needed.
At the Urology Care Foundation, we have the honor of working with board-certified urologists to help with our patient education materials. These doctors volunteer their extra time (out of their already busy schedules) to help with our patient education materials. It could be reviewing patient guides and fact sheets or talking on The Urology Care Podcast. They not only volunteer their time, but they do it with a smile on their face because they know these materials are designed to help patients and caregivers. Their passion for helping others shines through all they do.
It is very touching when we get to interview patients and hear their stories about how a doctor or doctors changed their life. One story that stands out is from a podcast interview with a Pheochromocytoma survivor, Michael, and Dr. Ben Ristau. Michael expressed such great thanks for Dr. Ristau and his team as he fought for his life. Listen to this podcast to hear this touching story.
To help continue to support the doctors in urology, their research and patient education materials, you can make a donation to the Urology Care Foundation. When you make a special Doctors’ Day donation to the Urology Care Foundation today, we’ll send a custom card to your doctor to let them know you’re thinking of them.
Let's hear it for our doctors!
